I wonder why it is you must travel far to appreciate those things right in front of you. I suppose this is the opportune moment to suggest life is a journey, not a destination. However, I find it more appropriate to address my fondness for hills.
Here and there
I’ve spent the last few years in Vegas and North Carlolina. As you may be aware from photos or personal experience, Vegas is flat. It’s a dessert, in a valley, and its flat. My middle school girlfriend was more endowed. There are approximately seven trees. It doesn’t snow and you’re lucky to see rain. The official tempature is taken in the shade to intentially shave off a few degrees in hope of not scaring off gamblers. At least its a dry heat, right?
Heading east into North Carolina is spectacular. There is a part of I-40 coming through the Smoky Mountains, where there is some exhilerating, hold your breath, two hands on the wheel driving. It’s a stretch of road you’d really have to drive to understand. Then, there was where I ended up in North Carolina. Out near the coast, in the marsh lands. Flat. But, there are more trees. But… its flat.
Maryland has hills. Lots of them, and its wonderful.
Good looking girls are a dime a dozen
In sticking with the theme, loosely, there is a hell of a lot of scenery in Maryland. Don’t get me wrong, Vegas and NC have their beauties too, but the views around Maryland today were great. At the mall, hanging out in front of a Starbucks, at this sports bar, and the movies; I couldn’t throw a rock and not hit a good lookin gal. The trick isto sort out the substance.
Back
So, suffice to say I am back in Maryland. Back to my roots. Back to enjoying winding, hilly roads, trees and other assorted scenery. I’ll even get to see snow this year!
